Complex Proportional Assessment - COPRAS

Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS) is a Multi-criteria decision making method (MCDM) and is a compensatory method.

Introduction to COPRAS method
  1. Developed by E. Zavadskas,  1994
  2.  Assumes direct and proportional dependences of the significance and utility degree of the available alternatives under the presence of mutually conflicting criteria
  3. Considering both the ideal and the ideal-worst solutions
  4. Compensatory method
  5. Attributes are independent
  6. Simple to use
  7. Less computational time
Application to COPRAS method
  • Road design alternatives  [WKM Brauers et. al.,  2008]
  • Transport system modelling [M Jakimavičius 2009]
  • Alternative solutions of wall insulation [Romualdas Ginevičius et. al. 2010]
  • Apartment blocks maintenance contractors [Edmundas Kazimieras Zavadskas et. al. 2010]
  • Material Selection [Chatarjee 2011]
  • Construction of Forest roads in best place [H Zolfani, 2011]
  • Selection of Rapid prototyping machine  [Makhesana 2014, S Mondal 2017]
  • Select air compressor for a textile company [N Kundakcı, 2016]
  • Allocation of risk in water and sewerage [A Valipour 2019]
Here, in this video the details of the steps involved in COPRAS method and step by step calculations are also shown here. Watch it.
The calculations for the COPRAS method with the material selection problem can be downloaded here.
